St. Francis Xavier competes in Sacred Heart Holiday invite

BATON ROUGE – St. Francis Xavier Catholic School’s seventh grade basketball team, under coach Wilbert J. Wilson, competed in the Sacred Heart Holiday Invitational recently.

St. Francis defeated St. Jean Vianney 28-5 to open play before dropping Sacred Heart 23-10 and Most Blessed Sacrament 29-25 to advance to the championship game.

University Lab won the title with a 35-28 victory leaving St. Francis runners-up.

Eldred Jackson averaged 11 points, 12 rebounds and five steals for St. Francis, while Keith Singleton averaged nine points, 12 rebounds and three steals, Jared Eaglin averaged four points, eight rebounds and two steals, Me’Kyle Dillon averaged three points, four rebounds and three steals and Jasen Warren and Mark Heard both averaged four rebounds and two steals respectively.

Other team players who did not participate in the holiday invitational due to sickness or vacation reasons were Plaquemine native Za'heem Jackson, Bryce Biagas, and Larry Lewis.
