News of the week

Here are the top news stories from the past week:

- Casey Anthony was sentenced Thursday to four years in jail for lying to authorities, but because of time served and good behavior, she will be released July 17. On Tuesday, Anthony was found not guilty of killing her 2-year-old daughter Caylee.

- Facebook announced Wednesday that it is adding a Skype feature to users’ pages. The “call” button will let users make phone calls over the Internet. The move by the social-media giant is seen by some analysts as a response to the Google+ social-networking site, which is trying to snatch up Facebook users.

- The Space Shuttle Atlantis launched Friday morning, and now it is heading for the International Space Station. This marks the last space shuttle launch from NASA for the foreseeable future. After 135 flights throughout the last 30 years, the era of launching U.S. astronauts into space has come to a close.
