The National Transportation Safety Board on Tuesday recommended that the use of cellphones while driving be banned nationwide. The NTSB wants phone calls, text messaging and any cellphone-related distracted driving to be banned, but some hands-free devices would not apply.
In a related story, the NTSB announced Tuesday that a driver who caused a pileup in Missouri last year had been texting while driving before the accident. Two people were killed and 38 were injured in the crash that involved two school buses.
