This week’s suggestions include watching “Step Up 3D” or “The Other Guys,” commemorating Hiroshima, celebrating National Mustard Day and more.

FRIDAY

The two big movies this week are both PG-13 and should appeal the teen and adult crowd. “Step Up 3D,” a Disney movie, brings some more exciting dance moves to the big screen, and “The Other Guys” is a comedy starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.

Today is the anniversary of when the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Some veterans organizations are holding events to mark the anniversary, so check your newspaper for listings. Or if you can’t get to an event, head to the library to check out some books and documentaries on the subject.

SATURDAY

What’s your favorite kind of mustard? French’s yellow? Grey Poupon? No matter what it is, today is a day to celebrate it – it’s National Mustard Day! Fix a meal that requires mustard to top it off, or try making your own. The National Mustard Museum has some recipes to try.

SUNDAY

Is your garden overflowing with zucchini? Give some to your neighbors today, as Aug. 7 is the date of a wacky “holiday”: Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbors' Porch Night. You don’t have to sneak the zucchini, however – you could just pass some out.

The Perseids Meteor Shower is on display in the night skies, and it’s starting to peak. The best place to look is to the northeast after midnight. Check out the link above for more information on watching the show.
